Peter Donohoe was born in Manchester in 1953. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Derek Wyndham and then in Paris with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod. Since his unprecedented success as joint winner of the 1982 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, he has developed a distinguished career in Europe, the USA, the Far East and Australasia. He is acclaimed as one of the foremost pianists of our time, for his musicianship, stylistic versatility and commanding technique.

Mon 17th- The Alderney Music Society, in association with Julian & Maree Harper, present Woroch & Armstrong.
Now a Professor at the Guildhall School of Music, Bartosz Woroch was appointed leader of one of Poland’s leading orchestras, the Poznan Philharmonic, at the age of 22. As a concerto soloist he has appeared with the Czestochowa, Poznan, Silesian and Auckland Philharmonic Orchestras, the Bern Symphony and Polish Radio Orchestras. Among many, he has given recitals at Bridgewater Hall, Barbican, Purcell Room and the Brighton Festival and has recorded for BBC Radio 3, Radio France and Polish Radio.
Accompanist Sam Armstrong has performed throughout Europe, Asia and North America as recitalist, chamber musician and orchestral soloist. He made his New York solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in January 2009 and the Wigmore Hall in 2011.
Their programme will include pieces by Bach, Beethoven & Strauss.

July 2013 Tue 2nd- Alderney Music Society – Fascinating Aida.
Hard to credit, but Fascinating Aida have been at it now for nearly 30 years and remain at the top of their game. Founder member Dillie, Keane, together with Adèle Anderson and Liza Pulman deliver witty, musically nimble tunes that whilst harking back to music-hall classics, still remain devilishly up to date. Fascinating Aïda are regarded as one of Britain's best vocal comedy cabaret trios, who have in the past been described as "Absolutely Fabulous meets Noel Coward, as sung by the Andrew Sisters."
This new show will include several new ‘Hot of the Press’ numbers, as well as many old favourites. The best loved amongst these being their infamous anthem to budget travel, ‘Cheap Flights’ (8 million hits on YouTube). Bar opens at 7:15pm.

Sun 21st- Alderney Stones Race. This is a popular "orienteering" fun race for walkers and runners starting and finishing in Braye in July every year. Find your own route to visit either all 10 or just 5 of the Goldsworthy Stones and return to the start for refreshments and prizes.

Wed 14th- Alderney Music Society - in association with Les & Sue Stewart, present Tony Jacobs & Jim Barry (Vocal Cabaret)performing the 'Gershwin Songbook'.
Tony Jacobs (Vocals: Trumpet) was the male vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra. He has appeared with the Glen Miller UK Orchestra, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra and the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra. His own highly acclaimed shows include The Gershwin Years and the Tuxedo Jazz Orchestra.
Jim Barry (Piano), one of the UK’s great ‘Big Band’ pianists. Many years with the BBC Radio Orchestra, Jim has also accompanied starts as diverse as Vera Lynn, Harry Secombe and Dizzy Gillespie.
A wonderful heady cocktail of songs and music – a ‘must see’ show for all music lovers.

Thu 10th- Alderney Music Society, in association with Blanchards, present a welcome return visit by Adolfo Barabino (Piano). Adolfo has been described by critics as having “a velvet touch and great virtuosity” as well as “a great talent with deep musicality”. It has also been said that “rarely can you hear such a beautiful sound, so full of nuances”. Adolfo has the reputation of being one of the finest interpreters of Chopin of his generation and is currently recording the complete works of Chopin. He has also been invited to record the sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti
Although now living in England, he is much in demand throughout the world for both his masterclasses and his lectures on the approach to the keyboard and on “Sound as a tool of communication”.
