All change at States of Alderney

Posted Mon 16th January 2017 at 11:36

Transport consultant James Dent is to head up the new Policy & Finance Committee and Norma Paris pipped Ian Tugby to the post of General Services Committee Chairman.

The top posts of the main committees were voted on at the first States Meeting of the year and the inaugural meeting for the five new States Members.

The new look States seems set to usher in further changes to committees, and not just in terms of leaders and committee membership.

James Dent spoke of his enthusiasm for Action Groups, rather than sub committees, which would consist of expert members of the public.

Previous GSC chairman Ian Tugby went head to head with Norma Paris for chairmanship of the General Services Committee. He argued that his experience as chairman during the past few years, and his knowledge of building and affiliated trades, made him the best choice for the job.
