Summer stamps to show Alderney at its best

Posted Wed 1st February 2017 at 14:58

A collection of scenes of Alderney at its most appealing will form highlight of this year's local stamp output.

This set received approval from Her Majesty the Queen just this week and the Journal was granted an exclusive sneak peak by the Guernsey Post before the issue date on 2nd May.

Bridget Yabsley, Head of Philatelic at Guermsey Post, said: "We have for a few years featured many areas and aspects of flora and fauna with the Alderney stamps and we thought it was time we produced an issue which featured the island as a whole, the beautiful scenery along with some of the activities and festivities that occur.

The six stamps include elements of all of these features, from the prominent Mannez lighthouse to Alderney week celebrations, beautiful beaches and the famous Alderney train. This set in some ways is a miniature tourist information pack which we hope will help promote the island as well as philately."
